For more than 33 years the community of Castaic has enjoyed a unique and wonderful holiday tradition that other parts of the valley can only imagine. The Castaic Lions Santa Float has warmed hearts, brightened smiles and spread the spirit of the holiday. Neighbors have come together to share in the spectacle and magic of seeing Santa "Up on the Rooftops" atop his sleigh. Children young and old have shared with Santa what they have on their "Wish Lists" and we have heard for years how the Santa Float is part of neighborhood and family holiday traditions.
This holiday event started out as an idea by local businessman and Castaic Lion, Jeff Preach, with a home-made modification of a boat trailer in 1989. Over the years the boat trailer was transformed to a 22 foot custom trailer with Santa and his faithful reindeer up on the rooftop of a snowy neighborhood waiting for the children of Castaic to visit Santa.
Spreading cheer and collecting food donations from every community in Castaic is the tradition of the Santa float. We welcome you to be part of this very special tradition. Bring your donations of canned food and non-perishables to the elves working with Santa the night he visits your neighborhood.
Lions are also collecting used eyeglasses to be used for recycling and distribution to third world countries providing the Gift of Sight.
